Painting was an occasional hobby for many years whenever I signed up for a weekly evening class.

I particularly enjoyed the chaos of John Murray’s classroom after years of working in classes that focused on representation. Murray's words and attitude led to a major shift when I returned to abstracting expression from life.

Mentored by Zhanna Cantor’s steadfast impressionistic style, I began to find a voice with my paintings. She encouraged my desire to paint over old paintings, allowing the old to influence the new. I still love some of these wild accidents.
