Switching from acrylic to oil paints in 2023 allowed me to slow down and build paintings in a new way. Working with Suchitra Bhosle at the Landgrove Art Center in Vermont helped me to realize that every stroke, color and value is relative to what it is immediately adjacent to, so the same value in one place is not equal to it in another place because it matters more what it is next to.
